Welcome Home, Coach Myhr
You never really leave Wisconsin Rowing.
The lessons, your teammates, the early mornings — stay with you for life.
The University of Wisconsin Men’s Rowing Program is excited to welcome Greg Myhr ’92 back to Madison as our Associate Head Coach.
Coach Myhr’s connection to this program runs deep and his return to Madison marks a dynamic new chapter for our team. As a former Captain and Coach, he understands the traditions, expectations, and values that have defined Wisconsin Rowing for generations. His coaching journey has taken him across every level of our sport, and he returns with a wealth of experience that will immediately strengthen our staff and make a lasting impact on our student-athletes.
When we began this search, we wanted someone who not only had exceptional coaching experience. We were looking for someone who truly understands what it means to wear the Motion W and represent Wisconsin Rowing.
Coach Myhr checks every box.
He’s a proven leader, an exceptional teacher, and someone who has built successful programs while developing true oarsmen on and off the water.
I’m also incredibly thankful to the Stewards of 1874 and your belief in our vision. Your investment in our program — and specifically the commitment to supporting Coach Myhr’s position — demonstrates what’s possible when alumni and supporters rally behind Wisconsin Rowing.
You made it possible for us to bring someone of Coach Myhr’s caliber home to Wisconsin.
Your generosity allows us to attract and retain exceptional coaches, directly benefiting every student-athlete in our program, and positioning our program to compete in current collegiate athletics climate.
We’re delighted to welcome Coach Myhr back to the Porter Boathouse. I know our athletes will benefit from his experience, his passion for coaching, and his love for this program.
Welcome home, Coach Myhr!

A Note from Marcy….
One of the joys of this role is introducing you to the remarkable people shaping the future of Wisconsin Rowing. This week’s announcement is just the beginning! Next week, you’ll hear—in Coach Myhr’s own words—why returning to Wisconsin felt like coming home and the vision he has for our student-athletes. Then the following week, we’ll take you behind the scenes to show how Wisconsin Rowing alumni are helping build the next chapter of this remarkable program.
SUPPORT WISO ROWING
Wisconsin Rowing’s strength has always come from its people—oars in the water, pulling as one. As we look to the future, your involvement is more important than ever. Whether through financial support or lending your time and talent, there are meaningful ways for every alum to contribute to the continued success of the program.
